I loved the food here. I never do reviews, this place I had to do one. Their food was amazing and fresh. There is so much I can say! Their beer batter mushrooms are amazing! The food was different I loved the surprise.
I hate that it's kinda far, but well worth a drive to it. We where seated right away, he always asked if we needed anything. I wish there was a place like this by my house.
Need to eat at if you have not! -

Passing through on Interstate 43 and checked Yelp for some good food that wasn't just a burger or pizza. What a gem! Had the Blackened Whitefish special. It was amazing! Seasoning was spot on and sauce was just the right touch. Boyfriend was happy with his pork chops, portions were bigger than expected. Appetizers were cooked nicely. Tapped beer was ice cold. Place was very clean and service was also very good. (They were not busy, but bartender/waiter was very friendly and helpful.)

We stopped here on our way to northern Wisconsin and couldn't be happier! We were a little hesitant stopping at a place we'd never been before in a town we've never heard of but as soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and felt right at home. As mentioned by a reviewer previously, the beer was ice cold and the food was great. The Haystack Onions are to die for and they make their own ranch dressing which is phenomenal. We left with full bellies and will definitely be stopping again! Thank you!!

We are transplants from the Milwaukee area and happened to be on our way home to Manitowoc, cutting through Cleveland to take a scenic ride north on County Road LS, when my wife and I realized we needed to stop somewhere to grab a bite to eat before our Friday evening at a friend's house. We discovered the Hickory House Restaurant and bar. We didn't know it at the time, but we had arrived before opening hours - the first arrivals. We were warmly greeted after stepping into the bar area, by a sweet lady who was to be our server. I asked if we were too early for a fish fry, and the friendly response was of course not! We were graciously escorted directly into the dining area and found our table for two next to a window. The dining area was nice, very clean, and welcoming. We were engaged in a fun conversation with the server who provided menus which were clear, and straightforward. I couldn't help but notice the nightly specials and I really wanted to come back to try them after being greeted by Kris, the owner. She came to our table with beautiful fresh cut flowers and welcomed us. We enjoyed a fun, lively conversation, and she was so excited about those nightly specials, well, we WILL be back to check them out. We selected (what I thought would be the lowliest entre) the two piece beer battered cod dinners. Was I ever wrong. The Cod portions were large and had a light, crispy batter that was very, very good! The Cole slaw was obviously a home made palate freshener - as great as something my grandmother would have served up. I have never had tartar sauce like that before either. There was attention to detail and culinary flare in that simple meal. It really entices a person back to this restaurant to try the many other offerings. After we had figured out we had actually arrived before opening, and reflected on the gracious response, well, that just doesn't happen anymore in this world. We very likely will be patrons for life.

We almost thought this was an abandoned building. Upon entering we saw a traditional wisconsin bar. We were early so it was empty. The owner seated us right away. The dining area is unpretentious but has a rustic charm.
The food was terrific and service excellent. Good variety on the menu. My ribs were very good and the oxtail soup great. The cheese stuffed bread sticks were phenomenal. My boyfriend ordered extras of those. The lemon cake dessert was fantastic.
Everyone in our party of 4 was extremely happy. Try it some time.
